LIVER CIRRHOSIS

Liver Cirrhosis

Liver cirrhosis is a serious condition in which healthy liver tissue is gradually replaced by scar tissue, affecting the liver's ability to function properly. Although advanced scarring is generally irreversible, early diagnosis and appropriate medical management may help slow disease progression and manage complications.

In the early stages, some individuals may experience symptoms such as tiredness, weakness, loss of appetite, mild jaundice, swelling in the feet, itching, or anemia. However, some people may have few or no noticeable symptoms initially.

In advanced stages, liver cirrhosis can lead to serious complications, including vomiting of blood, fluid accumulation in the abdomen (ascites), severe infections, worsening jaundice, confusion or altered mental function, kidney problems, and in some cases, coma. Advanced cirrhosis may require evaluation by a liver specialist, and some patients may need to be assessed for liver transplantation.

Proper diagnosis, regular monitoring, treatment of the underlying cause, a healthy lifestyle, and specialist care are important for managing liver cirrhosis. Ayurvedic care may be used as a supportive approach, but it should not replace evidence-based medical treatment or delay consultation with a qualified liver specialist.
